Always be ready to listen to what you client requires and do you best to follow the brief, but also do your own thing as this will set you apart, hopefully, from the competition and put you on the path to other assignments.

Don't spare the film, if your using a film camera as many pro photographers still do, usually transferring the images to CD, of course if your using a digital SLR camera you can see the images immediately and make adjustments as you go.

Don't be afraid to invite your client to comment for example on the camera angles or background choice and respect his choice, even if in your opinion he's not necessarily right, as I said above, cover it both ways. After all, if he gets what he wants and you come up with some of your own ideas as well, he will be more than happy and more importantly more assignments are headed your way!

Try to have a plan in mind of which garments to shoot against your chosen backgrounds, but as I have often said before be prepared to go to plan "B". In other words always try to think ahead and gently develop your shots around your location backgrounds or preferred studio set-up and be prepared to change your direction if it's not working out for example.

Use creative camera angles, for example a low or an unusual angle might give that 'sparkle' to your picture, that makes it stand out from the crowed. However always play safe as well and make sure you get the shot the client wants.
